Marin, CA

If you decide to venture outside the city. Head over the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin County.

·Just on the Marin side of the bridge is a turn out with a fantastic view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Follow the signs to Sausalito and have breakfast at either Fred's or The Lighthouse. Both are total dives, but you get to drive thru Sausalito and have a huge breakfast before you trek up to the wine area and start drinking. :)

If you have more time,  Marin is a great place for a hiking, biking and scenic driving :

This is good place for a hike:

Sausalito is fun. You can take a ferry from either Fisherman's Wharf or the Ferry building. (I prefer the ferry building, less touristy). As a perk the Ferries all have good wine, and Bloody Mary's. :) Just wander around Sausalito. Poggio has yummy Italian, and try Le Garage Bistro for a fancy but delicious breakfast (never been there for anything else). Or try the very casual but good Sausalito Taco Shop.

If you have a car, hit the San Rafael farmers Market at the Civic Center on Sunday for a great farmers Market.

Drive to Mill Valley it is a cute small town. Then head up for a trip through the red wood trees in Muir Woods. Get out and hike, then drive down to Muir beach and stop into the Pelican Inn Irish Pub for some Guinness stew. When you pull out of the lot head left to Stinson Beach and have a nice drive. Be on the look out for Panoramic Hwy for a beautiful drive over mount Tamalpais back to Mill Valley and the 101.
